For all appointments, a $50 deposit is taken at the time of booking, which is redeemable on the day of your appointment for treatments and product purchases.

At About Face, we use the Cutera Laser system is designed to deliver safe, effective, and lasting results for all skin types. Here’s what you can expect during your treatment journey:

During Treatment:

The laser handpiece will be applied to the treatment area over a protective gel, emitting light that targets and heats the hair follicle while leaving surrounding skin protected.
A built-in cooling system ensures comfort and minimises heat sensation.
Clients will feel a sharp snapping and warming sensation, similar to a quick elastic flick, which is generally well-tolerated.

Immediately After Treatment:

Temporary redness or mild swelling (similar to a light sunburn) may appear in the treated area and usually subsides within an hour.
The skin will feel smooth, and you may notice that treated hairs begin to shed over the following week.

Over the Course of Treatments:

Because hair grows in cycles, multiple sessions are required to achieve optimal results.
With each session every 6 weeks apart, hair will grow back finer, lighter, and less densely.

Downtime:

How to prepare your skin for treatment

Preparing properly for your laser hair removal session will help you achieve the safest and most effective results. Please follow these guidelines before your appointment:

Avoid sun exposure and tanning: Stay out of direct sun, tanning beds, and avoid self-tanners for at least 2 weeks before treatment. Tanned skin increases the risk of burns and pigmentation.
Do not wax, pluck, or thread: These methods remove the follicle that the laser needs to target. Stop these at least 4 weeks before treatment.
Don't shave: Please avoid shaving the area as it is the face, we need to see precisely where the hairs are growing to ensure we treat only in those spots to avoid stimulation. We will nip the hairs prior to treatment after we mark where they are growing from.
Avoid skincare irritants: Refrain from using active products (such as retinols, glycolic acids, or strong exfoliants) in the treatment area for 3–5 days prior.
Medications: Let your clinician know if you are taking any medications or photosensitising drugs, as some may interfere with treatment safety.
Plan ahead: Avoid scheduling around events where your skin may be exposed to significant sun, such as holidays or outdoor activities, during your course of treatments.

Post Care Requirements

To ensure the best results and minimise any side effects, please follow these aftercare guidelines:

Avoid heat and friction: For the first 24–48 hours, avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, swimming, or strenuous exercise that causes sweating.
Protect your skin from the sun: Apply a iS Clinical Extreme Protect SPF 30+ or Airyday and avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks. Laser-treated skin is more sensitive to UV light and prone to pigmentation.
No waxing, plucking, or threading: These can disrupt the follicle. Shaving is the only safe method between treatments if needed.
Be gentle with your skin: Use mild, soothing cleansers and moisturisers. Avoid harsh scrubs, retinoids, glycolic acid, and other strong active skincare products for 3–5 days.
Makeup: Avoid applying makeup for the first 24 hours to reduce the risk of irritation or infection. If needed after this time, ensure brushes and applicators are clean.
Shedding is normal: Treated hairs may appear to grow and then shed over 1-2 weeks. This is part of the process and not new growth.
Monitor your skin: Mild redness, swelling, or a “sunburn-like” sensation is common and usually settles within a few hours. Apply a cool compress or soothing gel (like aloe vera) if needed.
