At About Face we offer a wide range of skin biostimulators covering a variety of needs. This section is dedicated to educating you on injectable skin biostimulators, performed by our qualified nursing staff. We also offer a range of skin biostimulators that are applied topically and performed by our dedicated dermal therapists. Topical biostimulator treatments are listed in the Skin Treatments menu, under skin needling.
Topical and injectable biostimulators are an increasingly popular skin tightening and firming cosmetic procedure that may work by placing a biocompatible synthetic substance within the layers of the skin, either by small needles, canular or via skin needling, designed to stimulate your own natural collagen production over time.
Skin ageing involves a loss of collagen and thinning of elastic fibres (elastin). Elastin and collagen form the ‘scaffolding’ of the face and as they diminish with age, we lose structure and elasticity in the skin, resulting in facial laxity or ‘sagging’, fine lines, wrinkles and changes to skin texture. Biostimulators may help replenish your own lost collagen and elastin.
After treatment, once collagen build-up has had time to occur over months, the biodegradable particles or substance, are naturally absorbed by the body, leaving the enhanced collagen support structure, possibly delivering firmer, plumper skin and support.
Australian regulations do not allow us to name some of the biostimulator brand names used.
Prior to your appointment, a face-to-face consultation is required to discuss your suitability and possible treatment side effects.
