Acne thrives on excess thick oil, dead skin cells and bacteria. These three components are found within skin follicles and when you experience a thickening of the outer layer of skin this creates the perfect environment for entrapment of dead skin cells which then in turn prevents oil from flowing out on to the surface of the skin. Naturally found bacteria enters the follicles and cause inflammation which leads to the formation of comedones, both open and closed. If then not treated this can escalate to more cellular retention and overabundance of oil leading to greater stages of acne.
